EMMETT TECHNIQUE

Subtle work. Meaningful change.

Using light finger pressure on specific points around the body, Emmett Technique encourages a relaxation response within the soft tissue — supporting the release of tension, restriction, and discomfort.

Gentle. Fully clothed.
Simple, precise, effective.

What Emmett Technique May Assist With

The relaxing nature of this technique often results in people reporting responses such as:

  • Reduced muscle tightness and tension

  • A sense of lightness or space where there was restriction

  • Feeling more at ease within the body

  • Improved emotional wellbeing.

Improved comfort and ease may be noticed in areas such as:

Back · Abdomen · Hips · Legs · Knees · Ankles · Feet · Shoulders · Arms · Hands · Neck

  • “I’ve had chiropractic work for years, but after one Emmett session my practitioner couldn’t believe the change in my spine and pelvis.”

How I use it

I use Emmett because it’s precise, intelligent, and respectful of the body.

No forcing. No fixing. Just clear communication with the nervous system — allowing the body to reorganise itself.

I often integrate Emmett alongside yoga and alignment work, but it is also deeply effective as a standalone treatment.

Why I Work With Emmett Technique

I came to Emmett through my yoga teaching.

After a few weeks of mucking out my daughter’s pony, I turned up to a teach a session noticeably out of balance — one shoulder sitting higher than the other.

One of my students , who was training in Emmett, refused to let me teach until she “had a look” at it.

A few light-touch moves later, my shoulder dropped back into place. Simple, immediate, unmistakable.

That moment showed me what this work can do — not through force, but through precision and communication with the body.

I began training soon after, and over 10 years later (now at advanced level), it remains one of the most intelligent, respectful approaches to the body I’ve ever worked with.

What to Expect —

A session looks like this:

  • Gentle contact over specific points (fully clothed)

  • Short pauses to allow the nervous system to respond

  • Minimal movement, maximal effect

  • Most sessions last 45–60 minutes

People often notice:

  • Increased range of movement

  • Reduced pain or pressure

  • A sense of ease or “settling”

  • Changes that continue over the next 24–72 hours
