Full Primary Ashtanga Energetics
Dorchester Yoga Centre, Saturday 19 July 10.30am- 12.30pm
Over the past few workshops, we’ve explored the energetics of Ashtanga—the inner thread that weaves through the practice.
We’ve looked at drishti as more than just a focal point, explored the concept of bandha as inner tone and containment, and begun to understand how energy moves through the body when we practice with intention and awareness.
Now, it’s time to bring it all together.
In this workshop, I’ll guide you through the Primary Series with a fresh lens—one that’s less about external shape and more about how you’re directing your energy throughout. This is your invitation to explore the subtle but powerful energetic direction that sits beneath the sequence.
You’ll be supported to:
Observe the practice from the inside out
Integrate what you already know with a deeper layer of awareness
Soften habitual effort and explore a more intuitive relationship with movement
We’ll explore:
Energetic direction – how movement feels when guided from within
Drishti – not just a point to look at, but a thread of sustained awareness
Bandha – as energetic tone and internal support, not just muscular action
How these energetic tools impact your stability, presence, and flow—even in poses that feel inaccessible or challenging
This is ideal for you if you:
Want to move beyond alignment cues and into energetic connection
Are feeling stuck, plateaued, or disconnected in your practice
Are curious about feeling your way through Ashtanga rather than forcing the form
Expect a combination of guided practice, subtle cueing, self-inquiry, and time to reflect. You’ll leave with practical tools and fresh insight—something you can carry straight into your regular practice.
