Hi I'm Ness
My Journey
“Yoga is the awareness of your doing” – Geshe Michael Roach
Who would've thought, as a child I played with Hatha yoga postures,
now it's my life's devotion, my passion, my cure.
What was it that a 6-year-old found so intriguing about yoga? Was it the good feeling, the sense of something healing?
I remember listening to a vinyl record, following its guidance through simple sequences, moving and breathing, feeling amazing and free.
I carried this practice to art college and beyond, especially when I moved to London, chasing my dreams in photography.
Yoga became my lifeline, my support system, realigning my wonky bones after carrying heavy equipment for hours on end.
I dove into its teachings, unraveling its layers, embarking on teacher trainings, and winters in India, combining it with my energy training, exploring the depths of practicing with energetics.
Yoga has been my fail-safe, my rock, teaching me strength, both inner and outer, resilience, patience, and determination, and gratitude beyond measure.
It helps me find my edges and push beyond them, disciplined in digesting life's lessons with reverence, not getting caught in the madness, but dropping into a space of quiet when needed.
It aligns me with my centre, invigorating my body and mind with its unwavering power, helping me feel present and connected with others from a soulful place.
I bring awareness to the layers beneath the muscles and cells,
tapping into the energy that pervades within, understanding the
deeper concept of spirit, and ultimately learning that life is about
letting go, with grace and surrender as my eternal motto.
It is this inspiration that I hope that to share with my students.
I have had the privilege to study with some extra-ordinary teachers
over the years. Lousia Sears, my first teacher training in Hatha &
Ashtanga Yoga in 2007, BNS Iyengar, the oldest living guru in
Mysore, and then with John Scott who I gained my Ashtanga Vinyasa
teaching certifications from in 2016/17 and who I continue to study
under via his senior teacher Sandra
Howling, as I continue my 500 hour JSY certification. Forever the
student X
