What is Therapeutic Yoga?
Emmett Technique
What to expect
Treatments take place standing, sitting or lying down. I take you through
simple, gentle diagnostic movements to gauge where and how the body is being held. I then apply a very light touch to aid deep release, addressing the root cause of the imbalance. As well as improving the usual trouble spots of back, shoulders, neck and knees, Emmet is also good for ankles, feet, arms, hips and pelvis providing comfort and ease. Most people experience immediate and significant improvement with one treatment, but more may be required. More freedom within the body is usually noticed straight away, as well as enhanced mood and restful sleep.
If appropriate, I take you through simple yet effective yoga moves and breathing techniques that you can use at home in order to continue your rehabilitation, and where necessary I use gentle touch on acupressure points with a combination of sound and energy in order to release deep blockages and restore the natural flow of the bodies life-force to leave you feeling refreshed and moving more freely.
What My Students Say...
“My 1-1 sessions with Ness are brilliant. She is very understanding and supportive. I find that I am making space in my body with Ness’s help, I’m better aligned and my posture has improved. I’m definitely stronger and the arthritis is not holding me back because I’ve got more space and I know that I can get support from Ness when I need it. I know that value that I get from being able to focus purely my own problems, issues whatever has cropped up in my practice and I know I will get good advice and support. I really look forward to my 1-1 classes ”
Ann IWhat My Clients Say...
“Ness has been giving me Emmett therapy to improve the mobility and treat the pain in my shoulder. She has used this therapy on other parts of my body too namely my feet, lower back and knees. I injured my shoulder while lifting weights in the gym 6 years ago and it has been stiff and painful ever since until I had this treatment. It’s hard for me to explain how it works but to me it’s like magic. It is very gentle and non invasive and the relief after my first treatment was instant. I now have virtually full mobility in my shoulder and no pain and it’s still improving because I can use it. It has made a world of difference to my yoga practice but also in life in general. Ness has also treated my feet just the once. They were stiff and my toes were sore and I had frequent cramp in my toes. Suddenly my feet felt wider and I felt more stable when standing. They are much less tight and uncomfortable now so when I sit on the floor with my legs stretched out and my heels pressing into the floor my feet are straight. Before the treatment they would twist outwards. I couldn’t sit and press the soles of my feet together to open my hips before but afterwards I can and it’s so comfortable. My knees are both arthritic and have been very painful and immobile but not any more. It’s taking time because they were so bad but they are improving all the time and I am delighted with the results. Whenever I see Ness in person she gives me a ‘top up’ and i can say that Emmett therapy has without a doubt changed my life. ”
